Getaway!

My word for 2020 was “SLOW” and I definitely needed that reminder, so I was very excited to go on this stay-cation with Max and "escape" to a Getaway House, something I had heard about for a long time! It was a mini cabin in the middle of nowhere and it was just what we needed with the hustle and bustle of the New Year to slow down and regroup. Located an hour just outside of Dallas, Getaway are small cabins which are meant for you to truly unplug and connect with one another. It was so quiet and peaceful! They even have a lock-box for your cell phones. No Wi-Fi, no TV’s - only a radio, a fire pit, walking paths, a few books, a smore’s kit and YOU. That is exactly what Max and I did a few weeks back!

Our cabin’s name was “Dinah” and as usual, I over packed but what’s new? We made it work!! The cabin was fully stocked with cooking utensils and all your basic needs for a night or two. Each outpost has a queen size bed and if you want a slightly bigger cabin, it fits bunk beds up top to fit more people. We went on many walking trails and got in plenty of steps for the day before the sun set! We listened to the radio while we ate and made ‘smores by the fire. They had extra candy, coffee, starter logs, firewood and other supplies for a small fee 😊. Getaway House is also pet friendly! We opted not to take our pets because unlike many others – they will probably run away given the chance and we wanted to be able to relax! We played some games, had great conversation and looked at the stars. It was so quiet – it felt like everything was still and all my cares were just gone away for one evening! Getaway House is located in many states and is the talk of the town these days! Max really loved it too – we would definitely go back, but they are filling up fast!
